The Reds are looking for the third straight victory when they welcome the Seagulls on Wednesday. Jurgen Klopp’s side already dropped a lot of points this season and they cannot afford to drop some here – check out our Liverpool vs Brighton Preview.
Liverpool Recent Form & Team News
Two 3-1 victories on the road in a row made Liverpool look like title contenders again, and put their four-game Premier League run without scoring a goal to history. Still, within that streak was the Liverpool’s previous home match – a 1-0 defeat to Burnley that snapped a 68-game unbeaten PL run at Anfield. They collected 21 points fewer at this stage than in 2019/20.
The reigning champions are desperate to end their three-game winless PL run at home (D2, L1). The Reds are also looking to avoid going four matches without a victory at Anfield for the first time since October 2012. Brighton should be good rivals to end that streak, given Liverpool’s last four home H2H duels that saw them win at both halftime/full-time.
Player to watch: With a a couple of goals against West Ham, Mohamed Salah now scored 20+ goals in four seasons in a row for Liverpool. He is the first player to do that since Ian Rush in the 1980s.
Jurgen Klopp will be without Virgil Van Dijk (knee), Joe Gomez (knee), Diogo Jota (knee), Naby Keita (muscle), and Joel Matip (ankle). Fabinho (muscle), Sadio Mane (muscle), and James Milner (thigh) are questionable to play.
Brighton Recent Form & Team News
Brighton recorded their fourth straight game without a loss (W3, D1) with a 1-0 victory over Tottenham. It was a third consecutive Premier League clean sheet for just the second time in the Seagulls’ history. They failed to keep the net intact against Liverpool since 1983/84, bu recent results are surely encouraging for Brighton.
The odds are against Graham Potter’s side, but five of Brighton’s previous six PL victories came away from home. However, all four of their PL away losses in this campaign arrived at both halftime/full-time and against teams placed in the top eight prior to this round.
Player to watch: Neal Maupay became only the second player in Brighton’s history to score 10+ away goals in the Premier League.
Hot stat: Brighton hit the woodwork 11 times in this PL season.
Graham Potter cannot count on Florin Andone (knee), Alireza Jahanbakhsh (knock), and Tariq Lamptey (thigh). Alexis Mac Allister, Joel Veltman (muscle), and Danny Welbeck (knee) are questionable to feature.
