Bayern Munich vs Hoffenheim Preview

Die Roten are massive favorites to get three points against Hoffenheim and stay seven points clear at the top of Bundesliga. Read our Bayern Munich vs Hoffenheim Preview.

Bayern Munich Recent Form & Team News

Having skipped seven points clear of the chasing pack, Bayern Munich look well on course to record a ninth straight Bundesliga title after a 4-0 win over Schalke. It was their second straight shutout, but surprisingly, only their fourth this league season. Indeed, with 1.39 goals conceded on average per league game, and 14 of those seeing both sides score, Bayern are on course to register their worst tally against since 1991/92 but in a season where many teams are struggling for consistency.

Still, Bayern remain practically untouchable at home where they are unbeaten in 24 competitive games (W21, D3). Their last success at the Allianz Arena was the first time they registered a HT lead in five Bundesliga home games. Therefore, the fact they’ve netted twice as many second-half league goals (20) at home compared to the first (10), shouldn’t come as a surprise.

Player to watch: Joshua Kimmich has netted in two straight H2Hs.

Hans-Dieter Flick will be without Leon Goretzka and Javi Martinez, who are both in quarantine. Alexander Nubel (ankle) and Corentin Tolisso (muscle) are also out.

Hoffenheim Recent Form & Team News

One side who might fancy their chances against Bayern are mid-table Hoffenheim who beat the champions 4-1 in the reverse H2H. They own a rare level record against them over the last nine league games (W4, D1, L4).

After conceding in each of their first 15 Bundesliga games of the season, in-form Hoffenheim have now kept a clean sheet in their last three. That includes back-to-back 3-0 wins, and are one game away from equaling their all-time top-flight record of four straight from Mar/Apr 2013. Albeit against a Bayern side who’ve failed to score just once in their last 60 competitive home games!

Player to watch: Andrey Kramarić‘s recent brace – his second in a row for Hoffenheim – saw him overtake Ivica Olić to become the all-time top Croatian Bundesliga goalscorer. Kramarić also netted twice in the reverse H2H.

Hot stat: Hoffenheim’s last ten away Bundesliga games average 1.6 first-half match goals with each game seeing at least one goal before the break.

Sebastian Hoeness cannot count on Kevin Akpoguma (hip), Ermin Bicakcic (knee), and Dennis Geiger (muscle). Benjamin Hubner (ankle), Ryan Sessegnon (thigh), and Konstantinos Stafylidis (shoulder) are also unavailable.
