After a disappointing loss to the Wolves and a 5-10 record at the start of the season, the Pelicans have decided to put Lonzo Ball and J.J. Redick on a trade block.
According to Shams Charania, the New Orleans Pelicans are receiving calls from interested NBA teams to trade both Ball and Redick.
With changing the game pace (4th to 24th ) and moving the ball to Zion Williamson or Brandon Ingram, Lonzo Ball has lost his role, while his talents are limited, as well. He also scores 12 PPG, along with career-low 3.8 dimes and 4.7 rebounds while shooting 38.9% FG (29.1% from beyond the arc).
Meanwhile, a 36-year-old sharpshooter, J.J. Redick, can’t find his range this season. His career 41.3% shooting turns into a miserable 30% from the deep this season. The offense is failing to create open looks. The Pels are ready to part ways with J.J. in order to stay alive in the playoff race this season.
The first team that showed some interest are the Golden State Warriors. The Warriors and Pelicans discussed a potential deal involving Kelly Oubre Jr. There isn’t a conclusion of the deal yet, but like many conversations around this time, it is a possible scenario.
Both players are on expiring deals, and New Orleans is in desperate need of wing defenders as much as reliable shooters. Oubre is younger and could prove himself in Big Easy, earning a new contract with the Pelicans.
What do you think, NBA fans? With Lonzo Ball and J.J. Redick on a trade block, will the Pelicans have more chance of reaching the postseason if they leave? Tell us what you think.
