When you think of the top three NBA teams in the Western Conference, who do you think of? Probably the Lakers and Clippers and maybe the Mavericks or the Trail Blazers. One team you probably do not think of is the Utah Jazz. Still, no one is talking about the Jazz.
So far this season, they are 12-4 and on an eight-game winning streak. They are led by Rudy Gobert and Donovan Mitchell, two well-known players with a lot of history. Plus, they have key players Mike Conley, Jordan Clarkson, and Bojan Bogdanovic.
They have beat a handful of skilled teams as well, including the Bucks, Nuggets, and Clippers. Donovan Mitchell, the 24-year-old star, has averaged 24.3 points and five assists – all good numbers for the young player. Rudy Gobert, the defensive big man, has averaged 12 points, 13 rebounds, and 2.7 blocks. With the help of key players, this is a good team with the right weapons to succeed. Last playoffs, they lost in the first round after blowing a 3-1 lead to the Denver Nuggets, who went on to the Western Conference Finals. This side looks different as other players have stepped up. One of those players is Jordan Clarkson, who has brought up nearly every stat from last year.
A small market team
The Jazz has climbed up in most power rankings, including a top-three spot in the NBA’s and the first spot in CBS’. The team has shown its abilities as they have gone on an eight-game winning run. That is a phenomenal feat as they have played very well all around in each game. They still have not been as talked about, though. One reason for that, I think – they are a small market team. Being a small market team has its advantages but also its disadvantages. One key disadvantage is that most games are not nationally televised, so not as many people see them play.
As an NBA fan, I will continue to watch this team, and you should too. They have a bright future, and I could see this team going places. No one is talking about the Jazz, but it seems they don’t care about it, they just keep grinding.
