On Wednesday, Kyrie Irving, James Harden, and Kevin Durant all took the floor together for the first time. It was a hyped-up game with a lot of people excited to watch the league’s latest super team. They faced the Cleveland Cavaliers, who are led by the two young players Darius Garland and Collin Sexton. However, Garland was out, so Sexton had to step up. He did just that. Collin Sexton Spoiled the Nets’ Big 3 Debut.
It was a relatively close game throughout, and it ended up going down to the final seconds of the fourth when Collin Sexton hit an extremely clutch three. After a controversial jump ball call, the game headed to overtime. The rivals stayed neck and neck throughout the entire first OT, with Sexton keeping the Cavs afloat. Eventually, the game entered the second OT. This is where we saw Sexton go off, as he hit jumper after jumper and increased the Cavs lead. In total, he had 15 points in the second overtime.
The Nets were 11-point favorites to win the game. I think this loss showed that the new team hasn’t practiced together, but as the season moves on, they will begin to gel more. Collin Sexton spoiled the Nets Big 3 debut as he had 42 points, five rebounds, and five assists. This performance cemented him as one of the most underrated players in the league.
I would watch both these teams as they continue to grow. Exciting times are ahead for both squads – the Cavs have a bright future, while the Nets are hoping to win the ring as soon as possible.
