The Irons are hoping to get the third straight win in the Premier League and extend their unbeaten streak to five matches. The Baggies surprised Wolves in the previous round, but can they make another upset – find out in our West Ham vs West Brom Preview.
West Ham Recent Form & Team News
West Ham United stay in European contention following the third Premier League clean sheet in a row. The Hammers achieved that feature for the first time since September 2019 when they defeated Burnley 1-0. Having scored in an impressive 83.33% of their PL games, David Moyes’ team now found the back of the net in the opening ten minutes, or in the final ten, in four of their last five matches (W3, D2).
Solid at Olympic Stadium, West Ham lost only one of their previous seven PL home games (W3, D3), and usually recorded positive results when starting well at this venue. Three out of four goals in the first 45 minutes they scored in those seven matches arrived before the 20th minute. The Irons lost just one game after scoring first in a home league match this season (W4, D1).
Player to watch: Michail Antonio’s winning goal against Burnley was his 40th Premier League goal for West Ham. Interestingly, all of them were scored from inside the box!
Hot stat: Both sides have scored in seven consecutive PL H2H duels at West Ham (W2, D5). Six produced goals in both halves.
David Moyes cannot count on Fabian Balbuena (illness) and Arthur Masuaku (knee).
West Brom Recent Form & Team News
West Bromwich Albion’s 3-2 win at Wolves (Jan 16) was their first victory since Sam Allardyce took over, and ultimately ended their seven-game Premier League streak without a win. (D2, L5). Still, following their fourth straight match to feature over 3.5 goals, the Baggies remain a worrying five points from the relegation zone.
West Brom’s first road victory of the campaign (W1, D3, L5) saw them score three times in a Premier League away match for the first time since January 2014. They netted under 2.5 goals in five consecutive H2H encounters at West Ham (W1, D3, L1), and lost their previous four PL away games in London. That being said, another win and three goals seem unlikely.
Player to watch: Matheus Pereira proved out to be West Brom’s set-piece specialist this term. All four of his goals came via set pieces (three penalties, one free kick).
Sam Allardyce will be without Grady Diangana (thigh), Karlan Grant (broken leg), and Sam Johnstone (illness). Matt Phillips (illness) and Conor Townsend (knee) are also out.
