The Old Lady is trying to cut the gap between two clubs to just one point with a win at Giuseppe Meazza on Sunday. Are Juve capable of doing it, find out in our Inter vs Juventus Preview.
Inter Recent Form & Team News
Internazionale hit an untimely blip in form just before this famous Derby d’Italia, after claiming just a single point from their last two Serie A matches (D1, L1), which has seen them fall three points from top spot. Regardless, Inter are still the best attacking side in the league, netting 43 goals in the opening 17 SA rounds for the first time since the 1950/51 season.
At home, Inter have won each of their last five SA outings, scoring 3+ goals on three of those occasions. Curiously, the Nerazzurri have led here at HT just once this term – a joint-league low! Additionally, their last win in a league H2H here occurred back in 2016, which was also their only win across the last ten SA home H2Hs (D4, L5).
Player to watch: Romelu Lukaku has already scored 12 SA goals this season, with the last four arriving beyond the hour mark.
Antonio Conte will be without Danilo D’Ambrosio (knee) and Matias Vecino (knee). Andrea Pinamonti (ankle) is questionable to play.
Juventus Recent Form & Team News
Meanwhile, Juventus beat Sassuolo 3-1 last time out to register three Serie A wins in a row for the first time this season, with all three matches witnessing Juve score at least three goals. The prolific attack has been behind their recent resurgence, as the Bianconeri have scored at least twice after the break in each of their previous six wins across the last eight league outings (D1, L1).
The visitors are one of just two SA sides yet to lose an away league game this season (W4, D4), whilst winning the last three in a row. A league-high of three wins in away matches that have been level at HT are further confirmation of their strong second-half performances.
Player to watch: All eyes, as always, will be on the league top scorer (15 goals) Cristiano Ronaldo. He scored seven goals across his last seven SA matches, with five coming after the break.
Hot stat: Five of the last six competitive H2Hs here to feature at least one goal have seen the opener arriving inside the first 20 minutes, including the last three.
Andrea Pirlo cannot count on Paulo Dybala (knee) and Matthijs de Ligt (illness). Alex Sandro (illness) and Juan Cuadrado (illness) are questionable to feature on Sunday.
