The Derby della Capitale will take place at Stadio Olimpico on Friday, when two arch-rivals meet in the opening game of Serie A round 18. Take a look at our Lazio vs AS Roma Preview.
Lazio Recent Form & Team News
Lazio (W8, D4, L5) are coming into this encounter six points behind their eternal enemies. Still, a long-awaited streak of two Serie A victories in a row for the first time in this campaign has inspired the Eagles. With the latest 2-0 road win over Parma, Lazio recorded their fourth clean sheer of the season. Interestingly, all four ended with a 2-0 result.
A strong start could be vital on Friday, as four of the previous five H2H duels in Serie A produced a leader at halftime. All four matches have seen the side that was up at the interval eventually winning in the end by over 1.5 goals. Furthermore, the winning team on the day has led to-nil after the opening 45 minutes in each of Lazio’s last four league matches at home (W2, L2).
Player to watch: Ciro Immobile found the back of the net in five of Lazio’s previous six games. He also registered five goals against Roma, with all coming after the 55th minute.
Simone Inzaghi will be without Joaquin Correa (calf), Mohamed Fares (muscle), and Thomas Strakosha (muscle). Senad Lulic (ankle) is questionable to play.
AS Roma Recent Form & Team News
AS Roma have the all-time H2H advantage in Serie A (W55, D60, L39), and lost only once in their previous eight league games this season (W5, D2). Six of those seven matches provided over 3.5 goals. However, in the previous six games, Roma allowed ten goals – all of them in the second 45 minutes.
The Yellow and Reds have scored at least three goals in four of their last seven matches in the league. They tend to open the games quite strongly as they scored the first match goal in all seven of those fixtures, and conceding only one goal in the opening 45 minutes, along with six leads at halftime.
Player to watch: Edin Džeko scored two of his last three H2H goals in the opening 30 minutes.
Hot stat: Five of the last six H2H encounters have produced at least six yellow cards!
Paulo Fonseca cannot count on Riccardo Calafiori (muscle), Pedro (muscle), Antonio Mirante (muscle), and Nicolo Zaniolo (knee).
