Sheffield United Recent Form & Team News
Sheffield United are the only winless club in Europe’s top five leagues this season, but they manged to get a win over Bristol Rovers in the FA Cup. The Blades are coming into this Premier League match ten points away from safe zone (D2, L15). They are the first English top-flight team to start a league campaign with 17 games without a victory since 1902/03!
Without a league win at Bramall Lane since July (D1, L8), the Sheffield United displayed little incision as a home side. Still, each of their previous three games at this venue produced a goal in the final ten minutes. On the other hand, their home PL matches provided an average of 2.0 goals per contest this term – the second-lowest in the competition.
Player to watch: David McGoldrick contributed to 62.5% of his team’s PL goals this season (four goals, one assist).
Chris Wilder will be without Sander Berge (thigh), Jack O’Connell (knee), and Jack Robinson (injury). George Baldock, Enda Stevens, Oliver McBurnie (knock), and Lys Mousset (ankle) are all questionable.
Newcastle United Recent Form & Team News
Newcastle United almost knocked Arsenal out of the FA Cup, but Andy Carroll missed a golden chance in the final minute of regulation. The Gunners were better extra-time, so the Magpies can now concentrate on the Premier League (W5, D4, L7). Newcastle will enter this match with confidence, as they’ve won the previous five H2H duels in PL, netting 2+ goals in four games at this venue.
Ten (71.43%) of the 14 goals in the second 45 minutes on the road this season arrived after the 75th minute, while they’ve allowed 2+ goals in three of their last four matches on the road. However, Newcastle United are yet to be up at halftime in PL games on the road in this campaign (HT: D4, L3), even though they scored the opener in three (42.86%) such contests.
Player to watch: Callum Wilson found the back of the net in three league matches away from home this year. He also scored at Bramall Lane for Bournemouth last season.
Hot stat: Newcastle gaffer Steve Bruce only lost one H2H encounter with his former side (W7, D2, L1).
Bruce cannot count on Allan Saint-Maximin (calf), while Ryan Fraser (groin) and Jamal Lewis (knee) are questionable.
