The Red Devils have an excellent opportunity to climb to the top of the Premier League with a positive result at Turf Moor on Tuesday. They are facing the Clarets, so make sure you read our Burnley vs Manchester United Preview.
Burnley Recent Form & Team News
Burnley are hoping to continue with the good form and are trying to stay away from the relegation zone with a third Premier League home win in a row. That would be the first time since 2016/17. The Clarets never beat Manchester United at home in PL (D1, L4). They even failed to find the back of the net in any of those duels, but they did allow just two goals or less in each of the four losses.
Burnley’s current undefeated PL streak at Turf Moor includes their only victory from five tries as a home underdog (D1, L3). In their defense, their four home games were against the teams that started the round in the top-half of the PL standings. Burnley fired blanks in all three defeats.
Player to watch: Chris Wood scored in two of the previous three Premier League H2H encounters. Both goals came at Old Trafford, though.
Hot stat: Five of Burnley’s last six league matches with a winner have been decided by a one-goal difference (W4, L2). That also occurred in five of Manchester United’s previous seven (W5).
Sean Dyche doesn’t have any new injury-related concerns. Still, Jimmy Dunne (knock), Kevin Long (ankle), Dwight McNeil (groin), Jay Rodriguez (knee), and Charlie Taylor (muscle) are questionable.
Manchester United Recent Form & Team News
Manchester United have the best away record in the Premier League (W6, D1), and are the only side without a loss on the road. It is also the Red Devils’ best start in terms of points collected at this stage of the season since 2017/18. They didn’t lose in their previous 14 PL road trips (W11, D3).
Entering this round, United’s average of three goals per away contest is the best of any team in the league for either a home or a traveling campaign. They scored two-thirds of those goals in the second 45 minutes, while United have a perfect away record (W6) when allowed the opening goal. Additionally, the Red Devils managed to respond and get two wins on two occasions when they trailed at halftime.
Player to watch: Marcus Rashford recently became the third youngest player to score 50 Premier League goals for the club. He also netted United’s first goal in four of their previous five league games.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will be without Phil Jones (knee) and Marcos Rojo (calf). Eric Bailly (neck), Victor Lindelof (back), Paul Pogba, and Luke Shaw (muscle) are questionable to play.
