The Old Lady have an opportunity to return to the top four with a win on Sunday night when they welcome the Black and Greens at Allianz Stadium. Take a look at our Juventus vs Sassuolo Preview.
Juventus Recent Form & Team News
A 3-1 win over league leaders AC Milan has resurrected Juventus’ plans for a tenth consecutive Serie A title. Four wins across their last six league outings (D1, L1) has been a major boost, with all four witnessing Juve score at least three goals.
However, it’s worth noting that their last home win (Udinese 4-1) was the only time Juventus have scored over 2.5 team goals across their last six SA home games. At the other end of the pitch, the hosts have failed to keep a clean sheet here in four consecutive SA matches (W2, D1, L1) for the first time in a single season since May 2019, with four of seven league goals conceded here this season arriving in the opening 15 minutes of either half.
Player to watch: Federico Chiesa hit a brace last time out. Three of his five strikes for Juventus this term have now arrived in the opening 30 minutes.
Andrea Pirlo will be without Alex Sandro, Juan Cuadrado, and Matthijs de Ligt are all out due to an illness. Alvaro Morata (thigh) is questionable to feature.
Sassuolo Recent Form & Team News
Sassuolo beat Genoa 2-1 on Wednesday, and now their last five Serie A matches have featured both teams score. There should be goals again here as a joint-league high six of Sassuolo‘s 16 fixtures have produced over 4.5 match goals, including two of the last three (W2, L1).
The visitors suffered their first away league loss in their previous road trip (W5, D2, L1), but the last time they lost two consecutive SA away outings was back in January 2020. Expect some late action here as Sassuolo have scored nine of their 17 away league goals beyond the hour mark (52.94%), although notably, all five of the goals they netted across last season’s H2Hs arrived before this period (D2).
Player to watch: Jeremie Boga has opened the scoring in both of the SA matches he‘s netted in this term.
Hot stat: Sassuolo‘s SA away matches have averaged a league-high 12.75 corners per game.
Roberto De Zerbi cannot count on Domenico Berardi (muscle), Federico Ricci (muscle), and Filippo Romagna (knee).
