The Baggies are looking for the first Premier League victory in six games when they welcome the Peacocks on Tuesday. Here is out West Brom vs Leeds United Preview.
West Brom Recent Form & Team News
It’s been a tough start in the Premier League for West Bromwich Albion, who failed to win 14 of their 15 league games (W1, D5, L9). Following WBA’s decision to appoint survival expert Sam Allardyce, the Baggies are buoyed by becoming the first team to take a point off the reigning champions at Anfield this season under his leadership.
WBA still possess the PL’s worst defensive record nonetheless, both overall and at home. As such, they possess a mere 13.33% clean sheet rate in all PL games. That return could get worse here, given that Sam Allardyce is yet to keep a clean sheet after four home H2Hs with Leeds (W1, D1, L2), three of which saw his side on the day concede 2+ goals.
Player to watch: Matheus Pereira returned for WBA last time out – he has contributed to a squad-high four goals so far (one goal, three assists).
Hot stat: Two-nil losers in their final game of 2019, WBA have not lost the final league game of a calendar year in consecutive years since 2001-2002.
Sam Allardyce cannot count on Jake Livermore (suspension) and Conor Townsend (knee). Kyle Bartley and Hal Robson-Kanu (wrist) are questionable to play.
Leeds United Recent Form & Team News
By virtue of a solid defensive display and a bit of luck, Leeds United managed to grind out a 1-0 win last time out to bounce back from their 6-2 trouncing prior. However, Leeds have often shown complacency following the festive period, failing to win nine of the last ten league games to see out a calendar year (W1, D3, L6).
Entertainment is the order of the day in Leeds’ Premier League outings so far this season – four of their seven away league games saw both teams score before HT, though they never led at the interval (HT: D4, L3). Moreover, the first goal is crucial, with Leeds yet to pick up a point when conceding first away from home (W/D0, L3).
Player to watch: Patrick Bamford proclaimed he is aiming for the Golden Boot after hitting his tenth PL goal of the season last time out. He is already cementing his best ever top-flight campaign.
Marcelo Bielsa will be without Gaetano Berardi (knee), Adam Forshaw (groin), and Robin Koch (knee). Liam Cooper (abdomen) and Diego Llorente (groin) are questionable to feature.
