The reigning champions are hoping to move five points clear of their city rivals Everton at the top of the Premier League table when the Baggies come to Anfield. Jurgen Klopp’s side is a massive favorite, but Sam Allardyce ws successful against Liverpool in the past. Take a look at our Liverpool vs West Brom Preview.
Liverpool Recent Form & Team News
In the previous round, Liverpool recorded their largest win in the Premier League as they dismantled Crystal Palace 7-0. That victory ended the Reds’ five-game winless streak on the road. Jurgen Klopp’s team returns to Anfield hoping to extend their 66 consecutive PL home run without loss (W55, D11), in which they have averaged astonishing 2.65 goals per contest. This season, Liverpool won all seven home games even though they allowed the first-half goal in five of them.
West Bromwich Albion will have an even harder job to avoid defeat considering that Liverpool comfortably won their previous 13 PL matches at home against newly promoted sides. Alongside a winning difference of 2.54 on average, the Reds recorded nine clean sheets.
Player to watch: Mohamed Salah recently became the second player to find the back of the net in four straight PL games this term. Impressively, the “Egyptian King” scored Liverpool’s opening goal in three.
Hot stat: No Liverpool player has received a card in four of their previous five PL matches at Anfield.
Jurgen Klopp cannot count on Joe Gomez (knee), Virgil van Dijk (knee), Diogo Jota (knee), and Konstantinos Tsimikas (knee). Thiago Alcantara (knee), James Milner (thigh), and Xherdan Shaqiri (muscle) are questionable.
West Brom Recent Form & Team News
West Brom concluded the last round as one of two Premier League teams, alongside Sheffield United, to have started as a traveling underdog at least twice without a win (W0, D2, L5). After 14 rounds, it is by far the Baggies’ weakest start to a PL campaign of the last decade.
The league’s second worst road team at least covered the +1.5 handicap in each of their previous three PL matches away from home (D1, L2). They managed to do it four times this term. West Brom also did that in their last four PL visits to Anfield, which means they could be capable of getting a respectable result on Sunday.
Player to watch: Conor Gallagher remains the Baggies’ only player to score in two Premier League games this season.
Sam Allardyce will be without Kyle Bartley, Jake Livermore (suspension), and Conor Townsend (knee). Hal Robson-Kanu (wrist) is questionable to feature.
