The Peacocks are hoping to avoid the fourth defeat in five games when they welcome the Clarets on Sunday. Read our Leeds United vs Burnley Preview for this Premier League tilt.
Leeds United Recent Form & Team News
Leeds United’s most recent loss (6-2) was the first time a team led by Marcelo Bielsa allowed six goals since 1992 and his Newell’s Old Boys. Still, that style of play is fantastic for the neutrals. The Peacocks’ Premier League games average 3.86 total goals per contest this campaign.
The answer for their inconsistency at Elland Road (W2, D2, L3) lies in the fact that Leeds’ seven PL matches here witnessed a different full-time result than that of halftime. Bielsa’s team also conceded in both halves in a joint-league high 57.14% of their games at home turf. However, they did avoid loss in two of four games when allowing the opening goal (W1, D1, L2).
Player to watch: Patrick Bamford enjoys a great season for Leeds as he scored nine league goals from an average of 3.7 attempts per match.
Marcelo Bielsa cannot count on Gaetano Berardi (knee), Adam Forshaw (groin), and Robin Koch (knee). Liam Cooper (abdominal strain) is questionable to feature on Sunday.
Burnley Recent Form & Team News
The visitors have moved out of the relegation zone with a four-match unbeaten streak (W2, D2). They managed to do it despite entering as underdogs in each, as it’s the case here as well. Don’t let the odds fool you, though, as Burnley avoided loss in 50% of Premier League games as outsiders this season (W2, D4, L6).
Although the Clarets netted only one goal in their previous 479 minutes of play away from home, they’ve proven hard to defeat (W1, D3, L1). In contrast to Leeds’ games so far in the campaign, Burnley played three of the eight 0-0 draws in PL this season.
Player to watch: Ashley Barnes ended a 970-minute goal drought with an opener vs Wolves in the previous round. He also contributed to three goals in six PL starts vs Leeds (one goal, two assists).
Hot stat: The Clarets’ manager Sean Dyche lost only one of his nine career H2H duels with Leeds (W5, D3, L1 in 90 minutes).
Dyche doesn’t have any new injury-related concerns, but a few players are questionable to play. Jack Cork (lacking match fitness), Johann Gudmundsson (muscle), Dwight McNeil (groin), and Matej Vydra (back).
