Good Game, Fair Result!
We start our Boxing Day Review with this clash at King Power Stadium.
This was as entertaining as predicted. Manchester United came into this game in better form, but Leicester City were ready. Man Utd started the game strongly, creating a number of chances but lacked a proper finish as Martial has another weak performance. Marcus Rashford gave them the lead in 23 minutes, capitalizing on a sumptuous cross from Bruno Fernandes.
The goal capped off a decent first half-hour for them, but they regressed massively after scoring. Leicester city grew into the game and targeted the weak link, in Lindelof who deputized for an injured Aaron Wan Bissaka. The equalizer came courtesy of a Bruno Fernandes giveaway that fell onto Maddison, who set up Barnes to rifle it with his left foot into the corner ending the half on level terms.
The Foxes were even more in command in the second half, creating even more chances but lacking a killer finish. On the other hand, Solskjaer couldn’t do much but regress to the back and see out the game specially after scoring the second goal by Bruno Fernandes . Edinson Cavani once again proved why he is very useful in Man Utd’s attack, instantly making an impact from the bench. Another sub who made an impact but in reverse, was Axel Tuanzebe. He was the unlucky bystander in the way of a Jamie Vardy shot for the 2-2 draw.
Overall, it was a fair result that reflected the entertaining nature of the game. Leicester will feel more happy that they saved a point, though Solskjaer clearly had chances to snatch the win.
That’s it for our first game in the Boxing Day Review.
