The Toffees are looking to stay among the top four with a win at Bramall Lane on Saturday night. They are the favorites to do it, but you should read our Sheffield United vs Everton Preview before making a prediction.
Sheffield United Recent Form & Team News
Sheffield United are on course for the worst Premier League points return ever given that they’ve won just two points so far (D2, L12) – the lowest total by an English top-flight side at this stage. They’re also the only side yet to lead a game at HT this season, although they have scored first in their previous two fixtures (D1, L1).
The Blades are winless in eight PL home games (D1, L7) since a 3-0 triumph at Bramall Lane vs Chelsea back in July. Despite that poor record, those games have often been competitive and they conceded under 1.5 goals on five occasions, and lost by more than a one-goal margin in just one.
Player to watch: David McGoldrick has scored three of Sheffield’s previous five PL goals, with two of those efforts arriving in the opening ten minutes.
Chris Wilder will be without Sander Berge (thigh), Kean Bryan (calf), John Lundstram (suspension), and Jack O’Connell (knee). Oliver McBurnie is questionable due to a shoulder injury.
Everton Recent Form & Team News
After a run of only one win in seven Premier League games, Everton have won each of their previous three which has guaranteed them a spot in the top four at Christmas for the first time since 2004/05. Their defense has improved immensely, averaging just 0.6 goals conceded per fixture across their previous five PL matches, a drop from 1.78 in the nine league games prior.
The Toffees have also lost only two of their last eight PL away matches (W5, D1, L2), and have scored five of their previous six PL away goals before HT. Additionally, they’re undefeated in three visits to Bramall Lane (W1, D2), although they haven’t scored more than once in any of their previous six matches there in a run that stretches back to 1990.
Player to watch: Yerry Mina, who scored the winner vs Arsenal last week, has netted each of his previous four Everton PL goals in either the 45th minute or first-half injury-time.
Hot stat: Eight of Everton’s previous nine PL away wins came by a one-goal margin.
Carlo Ancelotti cannot count on Allan (thigh), Fabian Delph (thigh), Lucas Digne (ankle), and Jean-Philippe Gbamin (Achilles tendon). Richarlison (head) and James Rodriguez (calf) are questionable to feature.
