The derby of Serie A Round 13 will take place at Stadio Olimpico in Rome when the Eagles host the Parthenopeans. This is our Lazio vs Napoli Preview.
Lazio Recent Form & Team News
A 1-1 draw at Benevento continued Lazio’s uninspiring Serie A campaign, taking them to 18 points after 12 rounds – the same tally they registered at this stage in 2015/16 when they finished in eighth place. More goals conceded on average per fixture (1.67) than goals scored (1.5) is a major issue, particularly as they take on a Napoli team that’s won six of the last seven SA H2Hs held here.
All six of Lazio’s SA home games this term have seen both teams score which hasn’t helped their cause (W1, D2, L3). After conceding a first-half opener in five (D2, L3), and recording a -8 goal difference before HT as the only remaining SA team yet to score a first-half goal at home, it’s clear slow starts are at the crux of the matter.
Player to watch: Ciro Immobile has scored the opener in three of the last four SA matches he was on the scoresheet.
Simone Inzaghi cannot count on Francesco Acerbi (thigh), Mohamed Fares (muscle), and Lucas Leiva (muscle). Senad Lulic (ankle) and Vedat Muriqi are also out.
Napoli Recent Form & Team News
Napoli suffered a 1-0 defeat at high-flying Inter during midweek, as their draw-less Serie A campaign continued (W8, L4). While they were unable to score in that match, late attacks have been a trademark of Napoli this season. Even 50% of their SA goals scored after the 60th minute and six of 26 goals by substitutes – no team has scored more goals from the bench ahead of this gameweek.
The visitors have also put together a 66.67% win-rate on the road this league season (W4, L2), despite scoring just 1.5 goals on average per SA road trip. In a statistic that may soothe Lazio’s worries though, Napoli have scored just two of their nine away league goals before HT.
Player to watch: Hirving Lozano was Napoli’s first goalscorer in three of the four SA games he found the net.
Hot stat: Eight of Napoli’s last nine competitive matches featured a 1-0 scoreline at HT either way.
Gennaro Gattuso will be without Lorenzo Insigne (suspension), Dries Mertens (ankle), and Victor Osimhen (shoulder).
