The Kids are looking to extend their unbeaten streak to 13 games when they visit Allianz Riviera on Saturday. Don’t waste any more time and take a look at our Nice vs Lyon Preview for this Ligue 1 tilt.
Nice Recent Form & Team News
A 2-0 win in midweek ended Nice’s four-game winless Ligue 1 run where they scored an average of just 0.50 goals per game. They now have a tough match against a title-chasing Lyon side in a fiery H2H that’s produced four red cards and three penalties across the last four competitive meetings.
The hosts have been one of the worst performing home sides this L1 campaign, and three straight top-flight defeats here – each witnessing Nice concede the opener before the 30th minute – has them on the verge of four losses in a row for the first time since April 1997. They have, however, won the last two top-flight H2Hs held here, the last of which ended 2-1 and kickstarted a run that has seen Nice’s last four top-flight home victories end via that scoreline.
Player to watch: Amine Gouiri has been Nice’s first goalscorer in the last five competitive matches he scored.
Adrian Ursea will be without Youcef Atal (muscle), Danilo (thigh), Dante (knee), and Kasper Dolberg (groin). Pierre Lees Melou (wrist), Myziane Maolida (thigh), Coly Racine (neck), and Morgan Schneiderlin (suspension) are also out.
Lyon Recent Form & Team News
Lyon have their tails up after extending their unbeaten run to 12 games (W7, D5) – L1’s longest current streak – following their midweek 2-2 draw. They’ve not lost three consecutive Ligue 1 H2Hs at Nice since 1981, so should be confident as they look to build on their 85.71% unbeaten rate as a L1 away favorite this season.
The visitors also travel here unbeaten in six road trips (W4, D2) which includes a 1-0 win at PSG in their last away outing where they restricted the reigning champions to just one shot on target – something no L1 away team has done at Parc des Princes since the beginning of 2011/12.
Player to watch: The visitors could threaten with Karl Toko Ekambi, who has scored two of Lyon’s last four away goals, and was their sole goalscorer in the last H2H.
Hot stat: Ahead of this weekend, away teams have won 37.16% of matches played this L1 season – a higher percentage than in every L1 campaign in history.
Rudi Garcia cannot count on Thiago Mendes (suspension), but the rest of his players are ready to go.
