The most exciting clash of Serie A will take place at Stadio Giuseppe Meazza on Wednesday, and here is our Inter vs Napoli Preview for that clash.
Inter Recent Form & Team News
Three goals beyond the 75th minute in their last Serie A match gave high-flying Internazionale a fourth consecutive top-flight victory. That result also consolidated Inter’s status as the division’s highest scorers (2.64 on average per game) but their recent goals have clearly followed a trend, with nine of the 13 goals they scored during that four-game winning run arriving after HT.
At home, Inter have lost just once in SA (W3, D1) netting over 2.5 goals in all three wins. All of those home league fixtures witnessed both teams score, which means Inter have conceded in their five opening SA home matches for the first time since 2016/17 – the last time they conceded in their first six was back in 2004/05.
Player to watch: Romelu Lukaku has scored four goals across his last four SA outings, with three arriving beyond the hour mark.
Hot stat: At least one team has failed to score in eight of the previous ten competitive H2Hs held here, including the last six (INT: W3, D1, L2).
Antonio Conte cannot count on Radja Nainggolan (muscle), Andrea Pinamonti (muscle), Matias Vecino (knee), and Arturo Vidal (muscle). Achraf Hakimi is questionable due to an ankle injury.
Napoli Recent Form & Team News
Like their hosts, Napoli won last time out (2-1) thanks to a good second-half performance after going into HT 1-0 down. That result ended a five-game run in all competitions that saw the Partenopei open the scoring before HT (W3, D2), but was also the third game from their previous four to see both teams score (W2, D2).
A win for the visitors would see them leapfrog Inter into second place, and with four wins from their five SA away matches so far (L1), including a clean sheet in three, confidence should be high. Napoli have also led 1-0 at HT in their previous three competitive away outings (W2, D1).
Player to watch: Another goal-threat who tends to grow into games is Napoli’s Andrea Petagna, who has netted all three of his SA goals this term after the 60th minute, including the winner last time out.
Gennaro Gattuso will be without Victor Osimhen (shoulder), but the rest of the players are healthy and raring to go.
