Roma vs. Sassuolo Preview

Posted by

The two top six sides meet at Stadio Olimpico on Sunday, and this is my Roma vs. Sassuolo Preview for that interesting Serie A encounter.

Roma Recent Form & Team News

A 4-0 loss at Napoli saw Roma bookend their five-game winning streak in all competitions. However, it was their fourth consecutive Serie A match to yield at least a two-goal margin, with at least one team failing to score on three occasions. There should be entertainment here though, as 50% of all 14 prior SA H2Hs have seen at least four goals.

The home side on the day has won the previous two H2Hs 4-2, but it is usually Roma who do better in this clash, avoiding a defeat in 13 of all 14 matches (W8, D5, L1). The hosts have beaten Sassuolo here in three of the last four outings, netting at least three goals in all of those wins.

Player to watch: Henrikh Mkhitaryan has already scored five Serie A goals, with three arriving inside the 31st-HT period.

Paulo Fonseca cannot count on Gianluca Mancini (thigh), Javier Pastore (hip), Davide Santon (illness), Chris Smalling (knee), and Nicolo Zaniolo (knee).

Sassuolo Recent Form & Team News

Sassuolo lost their previous league match (3-0 vs Inter), registering their first loss in 2020/21. However, for the first time in their history, Sassuolo remained unbeaten until the ninth league matchday, with each of their last four matches featuring at least one team fail to score (W2, D1, L1).

Very much the surprise package of 2020/21 so far, Sassuolo are currently enjoying a four-game winning run away from home. They have kept a clean sheet in the last two, whilst netting exactly four goals in the first two away wins. This makes part of a great run in their last nine away league outings (W7, D1, L1).

Player to watch: Domenico Berardi has netted three of his four league goals on the road, with two arriving beyond the hour mark.

Hot streak: Nineteen (41.18%) of all 44 goals in the previous H2Hs have arrived in the opening 30 minutes.

Roberto De Zerbi will be without Vlad Chiriches (muscle) and Filippo Romagna (knee).

I hope this Roma vs. Sassuolo Preview helped you to make a prediction, and if that was the case, follow us on social networks and subscribe to our website for more Serie A news and previews.
