EURO Qualification Betting Prediction: Croatia vs Hungary

Posted by

Croatia are hoping to stay at the top of Group E when they welcome Hungary tonight, so check out our EURO Qualification Betting Prediction for this clash. The gap between two sides is just one point, and Hungary already beat Croatia earlier this year. The Blazers are looking for revenge here, but the Hungarians are motivated to leave Poljud undefeated and keep their Euro chances alive.

Croatia Team News and Latest Form

Group E leaders Croatia (W3, D1, L1) are unbeaten in three straight European Championship qualifiers. Yet, a shock 1-1 draw at Azerbaijan last time out means the Croats have kept just one clean sheet in their last seven competitive matches (W4, D1, L2).

Having scored first in six of such matches, the Blazers have scored over 1.5 goals on four occasions while conceding a total of five equalising goals in this period. While six of their last seven competitive matches have been decided by one goal (or been a draw), their last five competitive games have also seen goals in both halves.

Luka Modrić has scored in 15 games for Croatia and never been on the losing side (W13, D2). Ten of the 13 wins were to nil. Four of Croatia’s five ECQ matches have produced over 8.5 corners (total).

Hungary Team News and Latest Form

Hungary meanwhile lost 2-1 to neighbours Slovakia last time out for their second loss of the qualifiers (W3) and their third competitive loss by a one-goal margin since September 2018. However, scoring over 1.5 goals in six of their last 11 competitive matches, Hungary have scored first in just five of such games (W6, D1, L4).

With four of their five ECQ matches seeing goals in both halves, Hungary’s last 11 competitive matches have seen both teams score on just five occasions. Considering Hungary have failed to score in only three of their previous 11 competitive matches, and that they won the last competitive H2H by a 2-1 scoreline, this match really could go either way.

Two of Willi Orban’s three goals for Hungary have come via his head. Eight of his 13 all-time goals for RB Leipzig have also been headers. Hungary have led at the break in four of their last 11 competitive matches.

Croatia vs Hungary Head to Head

These teams have met on six occasions since 2002 and Croatia have a couple of victories while Hungary won the most recent clash back in March. Two of those six matches were played in Croatia, and the latest encounter finished 1-1.

Croatia vs Hungary EURO Qualification Betting Prediction

Croatia lost only one home game in the last three years, and it was in a friendly to Tunisia. However, the Blazers are usually on the winning side in front of their fans while Hungary have only one road win in the previous 11 matches. Still, Croatia rarely beat their opponents by more than a goal, and the situation in Group E is still wide open. That’s why my EURO Qualification Betting Prediction for this game is Hungary to cover the +1.5 spread at 1.76 (-132). Stay with us for more EURO Qualification betting tips in the coming days.
