England Premier League Betting Tip: Aston Villa vs West Ham United

Aston Villa are hoping to escape from the relegation zone as West Ham United are coming to town, so check out our Premier League Betting Tip for this encounter. The Lions probably didn’t deserve to be this low in the standings as they played well in the opening four rounds. They will try to get three points tonight against the Hammers who are without a defeat in the last three matches.

Aston Villa Team News and Latest Form

After a tough start to the season from their opening quartet of Premier League matches (W1, L3), Aston Villa will be hoping to at least continue this season’s trend of the home team on the day winning the second half 1-0. Said team had done this in each of Villa’s last three PL outings, going on to win twice.

For what it’s worth, Villa have dominated the H2H PL record at Villa Park in the 2010s (W3, D2, L1). Each Villa win saw them prevail by a one-goal margin in one half and shut out the Hammers in the first half.

Villa’s Brazilian duo Douglas Luiz and Wesley have a Premier League home goal each, both of which have turned the scoreline into one separating the teams by one goal. January 2016 is the last time any Villa side recovered a PL point after going behind.

Dean Smith cannot count on James Chester (thigh), Jonathan Kodjia (broken cheekbone), and suspended Trezeguet. Left-back Matt Targett is listed as questionable as he is struggling with a thigh injury.

West Ham United Team News and Latest Form

After a cruel opener, West Ham have taken seven points from the last nine available. Both away games in that sequence (W1, D1) saw two of the match goals scored/conceded either way arrive in the 61st-75th minute period.

By extension, West Ham have won three of their last four Premier League away games. Across the last two of those victories, three of the four halves have seen the Hammers score exactly twice. Each of those two victories have seen Mark Noble net from the penalty spot.

Sébastien Haller has been firing away for the visitors, getting a brace beyond the hour mark on his last PL road trip. Both of West Ham’s Premier League road trips this term have seen them concede the second match goal after netting the opener.

Manuel Pellegrini will be without Michail Antonio (thigh) and Winston Reid (knee). Considering how the Hammers’ injury list looked a few weeks ago, this seems much better now.

Aston Villa vs West Ham United Head to Head

Aston Villa won four of the previous ten H2H encounters (D3, L3), but are without a victory in the last two while they suffered only one loss to the Hammers at Villa Park in this decade. Each of the previous eight Premier League H2H duels have seen under 1.5 goals in the first half (under 0.5 on five occasions).

Aston Villa vs West Ham United Premier League Betting Tip

Although West Ham are in a better form at the moment and their performances on the road improved drastically this season, I cannot separate these sides right now. The Lions are fairly good at home, winning eight of the previous ten games, scoring 2+ goals in seven of them. A draw is a frequent outcome when these two teams meet, and that’s the biggest reason why my Premier League Betting Tip for this encounters is a Draw at 3.60 (+260).
