2019 US Open Men’s Singles Day 2 Betting Preview

Posted by

The first round of the 2019 US Open will wrap up Tuesday, August 27, 2019. Rafael Nadal and Dominic Thiem begin their title bids, and we’ll see plenty of interesting matches on today’s schedule. Hereof, let’s take a look at our US Open betting picks of the day.

Denis Shapovalov vs. Felix Auger-Aliassime

Two Canadian rising stars will take on each other in the blockbuster of the 2019 US Open first round. Both Denis Shapovalov and Felix Auger-Aliassime are listed at 1.90 to win this battle, and I think four sets in the total are guaranteed at 1.45 odds.

This will be the third head-to-head duel between Shapovalov and Auger-Aliassime. Denis leads 2-1, but Felix won their previous meeting in Madrid on clay back in May. Both guys love to play on a hard court, and they know each other very well.

Shapovalov came to New York as World No. 33 and with a 20-19 record in 2019. Denis had a lot of ups and downs this season, and he reached the last four in Winston-Salem last week.

On the other side, Auger-Aliassime is World No. 19 at the moment. He’s 31-18 in 2019, still looking for his first ATP title. Felix lost three championship matches this season, and he’s coming off a first-round exit in Cincinnati.

Filip Krajinovic vs. Cedrik-Marcel Stebe

World No. 52 Filip Krajinovic takes on World No. 256 Cedrik-Marcel Stebe as a 1.25 fave, and I think Krajinovic will get the job done in three or four sets at 1.45 odds. This will be the second encounter between Krajinovic and Stebe, and Filip defeated Cedrik-Marcel in straight sets back in 2017.

Stebe used his protected ranking to enter the main draw at the 2019 US Open. He’s 4-7 in 2019, reaching the final in Gstaad last month. However, Stebe lost three matches in a row, and I don’t think he can beat Krajinovic in a best-of-five format.

On the other side, Krajinovic is 21-11 this season, and he lost the championship match in Budapest four months ago. Filip had to withdraw from Winston-Salem due to an injury, and I hope he’ll be ready for today’s clash.

Although both Krajinovic and Stebe prefer to play on clay, Filip’s game suits the hard court much more than Cedrik-Marcel’s. Krajinovic is 12-6 on a hard court this season, while Stebe is 5-17 in his career. Likewise, Krajinovic is 7-6 against the left-handers in his career.

If you’re looking for more US Open betting picks to take a huge parlay, keep your eyes on Alexander Zverev who’s a 1.45 fave against Radu Albot. Also, Kyle Edmund should outlast Pablo Andujar at 1.25, while John Isner is a 1.20 fave to beat Guillermo Garcia-Lopez.
