The second qualifying round in New York starts Wednesday, August 21, 2019, so we bring you our top US Open betting picks. There are a lot of difficult matches to bet on, but we still have a two-match parlay, going with a couple of strong favorites to finish the job in straight sets.
Soon-Woo Kwon over Oscar Otte at 1.85
These two players met each other in Yokohama back in March, and Kwon outlasted Otte in straight sets 7-6 6-3. The 21-year old Korean came to New York as World No. 90, and he’s won seven of his last nine matches including qualifying rounds, while Otte has dropped six of his previous nine matches.
Oscar Otte is World No. 160, and the 26-year old German had just two matches at the ATP Tour this season, while he’s 2-3 in his career. Kwon is 6-7 in the main draw at the ATP Tour in a career, and I think the Korean should win this battle, considering his current form.
Tommy Paul over Pedro Martinez at 1.60
Tommy Paul is playing at home which could be an important factor against the 22-year old Spaniard who’s still searching for his first ATP Tour victory. Martinez is 0-4 in his career, and all his four losses came on a clay court.
On the other side, Paul is 11-15 at the ATP Tour in his career. Tommy is a typical American tennis player who relies on a strong serve and forehand, so I think he will beat Martinez in straight sets here. Both players dropped a set in the first round, but Paul had a much tougher rival than Martinez.
