We bring you the 2019 US Open betting tips, as the first qualifying round wraps up Tuesday, August 20, 2019. There are 32 matches on today’s schedule and the vast majority of them look tough to bet on. However, we still have our favorites of the day, so let’s take a closer look.
Salvatore Caruso over Yun-Seong Chung at 1.50
Salvatore Caruso is a typical clay-court player, but the 26-year old Italian should get the job done against World No. 259 Yun-Seong Chung. Caruso is 5-5 this season and 1-3 on a hard court in his career, while Chung is still looking for his first ATP Tour match in a career.
Caruso came to New York as World No. 102, and he was absent for a month, reaching the semis at the ATP 250 in Umag back in July. On the other side, Chung has dropped six of its previous ten matches at the Challenger Tour.
Quentin Halys over Adrian Menendez at 1.45
These two guys will meet each other for the third time, and the score is tied after a couple of matches on a hard court. Halys should have an advantage over Menendez on a hard court, although both players have been playing in a poor form lately, winning just three of their previous ten matches.
The 22-year old Frenchman possesses a solid 1st serve, while Menendez is a typical clay-court player who lost ten of his 14 matches on a hard court in his career. The 33-year old Spaniard certainly stands a chance here, but I’m backing Halys to reach the second round.
Ilya Ivashka over Mats Moraing at 1.50
This will be one of the most interesting matchups of the 2019 US Open first qualifying round, and I’m taking Ivashka to beat Moraing. Ilya’s style of play suits the hard court well, and he’s reached the second round at the ATP Masters in Montreal. Losing to Gael Monfils in straight sets.
On the other side, Moraing prefers a clay court, and the 27-year old German is 0-1 at the ATP Tour in his career. On the other side, Ivashka is 7-9 this season and 23-26 in his career, while the 25-year old Belarus is 18-19 on a hard court.
The second qualifying round will bring some intriguing matches, so stay tuned for more 2019 US Open betting tips and predictions.
