Stoke City Team News and Latest Form

Stoke head into matchday three with zero points, after conceding the opener before half-time in their first two matches. Worryingly, they have let in five of the six shots on target that they have faced so far, and no side has conceded more goals than the Potters this league campaign.

Unfortunately, Nathan Jones’ managerial record doesn’t inspire confidence. Following a run of ten wins in 11 league games with Luton (between October and December 2008), Stoke’s current gaffer has won just three of 24 league fixtures since with both respective teams (W3, D13, L8).

Sam Clucas scored in Stoke’s first home game of the season. He netted a first-half opener, and a second-half assist, in the last H2H held here. There’s been an average of 2.2 bookings per match across Stoke’s last five home league games. A goal has been scored before the 30th minute in each of Stoke’s last four Championship home matches.

Nathan Jones doesn’t have any new injury-related concerns as only Ryan Shawcross (broken leg) is questionable for the clash with Derby.

Derby County Team News and Latest Form

Derby’s new manager Phillip Cocu remains undefeated this season following his side’s 1-0 cup victory midweek, (W2, D1). In addition, the visitors have lost just one of their last seven competitive away matches (W4, D2, L1).

While that away record bodes well, Derby have kept just one clean sheet across their last seven Championship games (including playoffs), although to their credit they did score before half-time in four of those matches. However, the visitors have failed to grab a first-half goal in the last four Championship H2Hs held here (W1, L3), with three of those meetings ending via a tight one-goal margin.

Tom Lawrence scored a brace within 30 minutes in Derby’s last Championship away game. His four league goals this year have all been scored within the first half-hour. Derby have scored within 30 minutes in each of their last four Championship away outings (excluding playoffs).

Phillip Cocu could be without Jayden Bogle (ankle), Duane Holmes (muscle), George Thorne (calf), and Andre Wisdom (knee). They are all listed as doubtful for this tilt.

Stoke City vs Derby County Head to Head

Stoke won five of the previous ten H2H encounters (D1, L4), including two of the last three while the Potters were victorious in the latest clash at Bet365 Stadium. Four of those ten games produced more than 2.5 goals.

Stoke City vs Derby County EFL Championship Betting Tip

Despite two defeats to open the season, Stoke scored a goal in each of their first three games this year. Even though Derby kept their net intact in the last two, they managed to do so in just once at Bet365 Stadium since 2003. In conclusion, my EFL Championship Betting Tip for the game between Stoke and Derby is both teams to score at 1.90 (-111) odds.
