The Fantasy Premier League is entering another season, and this time around, about five million people are expected to participate in the most exciting fantasy football league in the world. It starts with a tilt between Champions of Europe, Liverpool, and newcomers Norwich City. Of course, American football is something else, so we’re going to talks exclusively on English Premier League football in this article.
Fantasy Premier League – General Rules
As usual, you’ll get £100 million to spend on 15 players: Two goalkeepers, five defenders, five midfielders, and three attackers. You can select up to 3 players from a single Premier League team. You can choose from 3-5-2, 3-4-3, 4-4-2, 4-3-3, 5-4-1, and 4-5-1 formations, and depending on given gameweek, you’ll going to switch from one to another regularly.
Four substitutes, a goalkeeper and three outfield players, are there to step in if one of your starters doesn’t play a single minute in a gameweek. That’s why it is important to prioritize substitutions and make sure the best player on the bench to be the first sub. The captain and vice-captain can play a vital role in the outcome of gameweek and also, the entire Fantasy Premier League Football season. A player who is captain will bring you double points, and in case, he didn’t play, the vice-captain is there to take the armband. It’s vital to know that you must submit final squad selection one hour before the first game of the round starts.
Fantasy Premier League – Transfers
You have one free transfer for each gameweek, and if you opted not to use it, you are able to make an additional free transfer the following gameweek. It’s important to note that you can never have more than one saved transfer, so two free transfers are maximum per round.
Fantasy Premier League – Chips
Fantasy Premier League chips can be used to boost your team’s performance during the campaign. There are four different kinds of chips included:
· Bench Boost – The points scored by your reserves in the next gameweek are included in your total
· Free Hit – It allows you to make unlimited free transfers for a single Gameweek. Your squad will reset to how it was at the start of the next gameweek.
· Triple Captain – Your captain points are tripled instead of doubled in the upcoming gameweek
· Wildcard – All transfers in the gameweek are free of charge
The first three chips can be used only once per season while Wildcard can be used twice a year. The first Wildcard is active until 28 December, and the second one will be active since the January transfer window begins, and you can use it until the end of the season.
Fantasy Premier League – Scoring and Bonus Points
Scoring in the FPL is same as always. A forward will get four points for each goal and three points for every assist while all the players will earn one point for playing a minimum of 60 minutes. For 61+ minutes in a single game, the players will receive two points. A midfielder will get five points for each goal and one point for a clean sheet while defenders and goalkeepers can earn six points for scoring a goal, and four points for a clean sheet. Goalkeepers will also gain a point for every three saves, and five points for a penalty save. Defenders and goalkeepers will go -1 for two or more goals conceded while all players will get -1 point for each yellow card and -3 for each red card. A player who missed a penalty will be “punished” with -2 points.
Bonus points are working like this. The three best performing players in each match will be awarded bonus points. Three points will be awarded to the top-scoring player, two to the second-best, and one to the third.
Fantasy Premier League – League Types and Cup
Leagues can be private, public, or global with scoring on the Classic or Head-to-Head basis. The first round of the cup will be in gameweek 17 while the top 4,194,304 scorers in gameweek 16 will enter the first round.
