- Krasnodar vs. Porto
- Basaksehir vs. Olympiakos
- Basel vs. LASK Linz
- CFR Cluj vs. Celtic
- Maribor vs. Rosenborg
The action starts at 19:00 CET when Krasnodar welcomes Porto as a slight 2.80 underdog. The odds tell you a lot about how tight this clash should be. The identical case is with the clash between Basaksehir and Olympiakos where the Turkish side is a 2.45 home fave, while Celtic is a 2.50 fave at CFR Cluj.
All these three tilts are pretty tough to bet on. I think Celtic and Porto will stay unbeaten in the first leg, while I would avoid wagering on the clash between the Turkish and Greek vice-champions. It will be a proper football war at Basaksehir Fatih Terim Stadium in Istanbul.
Elsewhere, Basel will host the Austrian vice-champs LASK Linz, while Maribor welcomes Rosenborg. These two encounters bring some intriguing betting trends.
Maribor wants to take down another Scandinavian giant
Maribor eliminated the Swedish champs AIK Stockholm in the previous round after thrill 120 minutes in the second leg in Sweden. Now, the Slovenian champs take on the Norwegian title holders Rosenborg who should be a weaker rival than AIK.
Rosenborg lost two of its last five outings on the road along with a couple of wins and a 1-1 draw at Sarpsborg this past weekend. Maribor won two of its previous four games at home including a 2-1 victory over AIK, while the Violets lost once in that span.
Therefore, I think Maribor will stay unbeaten in front of home fans. The price is not attractive at 1.30, but I highly doubt the visitors’ chances to escape with a victory at 3.75 odds.
LASK Linz looks to stay undefeated on the road
On a paper, Basel is arguably a better team than LASK Linz. Hereof, the hosts are set as 1.60 favorites to win the first leg at home. I’m backing them to satisfy the odds even though LASK Linz has won five straight contests on the road including two friendlies.
Likewise, LASK has dropped just one of its previous 13 competitive games, losing to the Austrian champs Salzburg. On the other hand, Basel upset PSV on away goals in the previous round, winning the second leg at home 2-1. Also, Basel has won eight of its last 13 outings at home along with four ties and a loss.
