Daily Tennis Betting Tips and Picks – ATP Masters Canada

Posted by

The 2019 ATP Masters Canada continues with the second-round matches, and Rafael Nadal will take the court for the first time since his semifinal exit at Wimbledon. Likewise, Dominic Thiem will look for his first-ever win at the Rogers Cup, so let’s take a look at our betting tips and picks for two most interesting matches of the day.

Rafa seek for his fifth title at Canada Masters

Rafael Nadal will defend the title in Montreal, and the Spaniard shouldn’t have any problems to beat Daniel Evans in the second round. Rafa is a 1.12 fave to reach the next round, and I’m backing him to win in straight sets at 1.45.

Since his ninth title in Rome, Nadal has played very well. He’s won his 12th title at Roland Garros and made it to the last four at Wimbledon. Although Daniel Evans is playing in a solid form at the moment, winning seven of his last ten matches including qualifiers in Montreal, I don’t think his game is good enough to earn a set against Nadal.

This will be the first encounter between these two players. Evans is 9-3 against the left-handed players this season including the Challenger Tour, but two of those three losses came against top-25 players.

Will Dominic Thiem finally break the ice in Canada?

World No. 4 Dominic Thiem came to Montreal after five straight losses at the ATP Masters Canada. He’s 0-5 here in his career. Likewise, Thiem will face a tricky opponent in the second round. His first rival is the 20-year old Canadian Denis Shapovalov who’s already 7-3 at the Canada Masters.

Shapovalov defeated Pierre-Hugues Herbert in straight sets in the first round, snapping a five-match skid. Denis is far away from his top form, so I think Dominic Thiem will finally earn a victory in Canada and satisfy the odds at 1.60.

Furthermore, Thiem won the title in Kitzbuhel last week, while he won his first Masters title this year, defeating Roger Federer in the final in Indian Wells. Thiem will play Shapovalov for the second time, and Dominic outlasted the Canadian in straight sets in Acapulco last season.

The second round wraps up today, while Thursday brings plenty of excitements with the round-of-16 matches, so stay tuned for more tennis betting tips and picks.
