Daily Football Betting Preview and Picks for Monday, August 5, 2019

After a perfect weekend, we have just one strong betting pick for Monday, August 5, 2019. The market is pretty small today, but there are a few interesting matchups including the closing contest of the EFL Championship Round 1 between Huddersfield and Derby.

Hereof, let’s take a closer look at our match of the day. Elfsborg welcomes Djurgarden at Boras Arena, wrapping up Round 18 of the Swedish Allsvenskan.

Elfsborg vs. Djurgarden

After the first 17 rounds, Djurgarden is sitting at the 3rd spot of the Allsvenskan table with 35 points and a 28:12 goal difference. Djurgarden has a chance to top the standings with a victory here, while Elfsborg is laying at the 8th spot with 21 points and a 22:29 goal difference.

Djurgarden is undefeated in nine straight outings, recording seven wins and two draws in the process, and the visitors are 1.75 favorites at Boras Arena. Also, just three of Djurgarden’s last 14 games saw three or more goals in the total, so I’m going against the betting trends today.

On the other side, Elfsborg lost three of its last five games, and four of those five tilts produced three or more goals in the total. Likewise, eight of the last nine H2H duels between Elfsborg and Djurgarden had at least three goals in the total, while Elfsborg scored in each but one of its last 15 home meetings with Djurgarden.

My Pick: Over 2.5 Goals at 1.95

If you want to take a two or three-game parlay, consider adding the over 2.5 goals on Orebro against Goteborg or Stromsgodset versus Bodo/Glimt. I don’t prefer to take another betting pick from the same league, but the clash in Orebro seems like a solid option.

Five of Goteborg’s last six outings saw two or fewer goals in the total, while eight of the previous ten H2H matchups between Goteborg and Orebro had at least three goals in the total. Furthermore, five of the previous six H2H duels in Orebro saw four or more goals in the total. The price is tempting at 1.95.

On the other side, six of the previous eight H2H encounters between Stromsgodset and Bodo/Glimt produced at least three goals in the total, as well as four of their last five outings overall. The odds are set at 1.55.
