Daily Football Betting Preview and Picks for Saturday, August 3, 2019

It’s a big day for those who like betting on the English professional leagues. The Premier League starts next weekend, but the English Championship, League One, League Two, and National Leagues kick off today.

However, we’ll wait for a few rounds to go by and see what’s happening. On the other side, we’ve prepared our best betting picks for Saturday, August 3, 2019, so let’s take a closer look.

Standard Liege vs. Zulte Waregem

Standard Liege opened a new season with a 2-0 road victory over Cercle Brugge this past weekend. The Reds scored a couple of late second-half goals and missed the penalty kick in the first 45 minutes. On the other side, Zulte Waregem lost to Mechelen 2-0 in the opener, taking just seven shots on goal.

Standard is a strong 1.45 fave to win this clash, but each team has been victorious in five of the last 11 head-to-head meetings. Nine of those 11 contests saw three or more goals in the total including the previous three encounters.

Likewise, the last six H2H matchups in Liege saw three or more goals on the scoreboard, and Waregem scored each time in that span. Hereof, I expect to see a bunch of goals on this one.

My Pick: Over 2.5 Goals at 1.55

Zilina vs. Trencin

The third round of the Slovakian Fortuna Liga brings the clash that produced a bunch of goals in the past. Although two of the previous three encounters between Zilina and Trencin saw exactly two goals in the total, 13 of the previous 15 saw three or more.

Furthermore, ten of those 15 tilts had at least four goals in the total, while six of the previous seven H2H matchups in Zilina went in the over 2.5 goals. Zilina is a 1.65 fave here, but the Yellow-Greens couldn’t beat Trencin at home in three straight meetings. Trencin scored in its five consecutive visits to Zilina.

After the first two rounds, Zilina is tied with Dunajska Streda at the top of the Fortuna Liga with six points and a 7:2 goals difference. Trencin earned one point with a 2:4 goal difference.

My Pick: Over 2.5 Goals at 1.50

Berliner AK 07 vs. Halberstadt

Berliner AK 07 tops the German Regionalliga South West table after the first two rounds, tallying six points along with a 6:2 goal difference. On the other side, Halberstadt earned four points out of its first two contests, recording a 5:3 goal difference.

Berliner is a 1.35 fave to win this game, and the Red and Whites won four of their last five home encounters with Halberstadt. Berliner won nine of its last 11 outings at home along with one draw and a loss, and seven of those 11 tilts had three or more goals in the total.

Last year, Berliner defeated Halberstadt 3-0 at home, while three of the last six H2H encounters saw at least three goals in the total. Therefore, I’m backing the over on this one. Likewise, if you want to take a bigger risk, consider betting on the hosts to win and over 2.5 goals in the total at 1.85 odds.

My Pick: Over 2.5 Goals at 1.60
