Another exciting football weekend is upon us. The new English Championship season kicks off, as well as the other English professional leagues and the Dutch Eredivisie. However, Friday’s schedule is not so interesting, but we’ve still prepared a betting preview with our picks of the day.
Also, stay tuned for more betting picks and analysis for the upcoming weekend.
Club Brugge vs. St. Truiden
While St. Truiden lost to Mouscron 1-0 in the opener last weekend, Club Brugge easily defeated Waasland-Beveren 3-1 on the road. The Blue-Black took 25 shots towards Wasland-Beveren’s keeper, showing a solid form at the start of the new season.
Interestingly, in three of the last seven head-to-head meetings, Club Brugge defeated St. Truiden with an identical 1-0 result. All other four contests in that span saw three or more goals in the total. Likewise, three of the last four H2H duels at Jan Breydel Stadium saw at least three goals on the scoreboard.
Five of Club Brugge’s last six home games had three or more goals in the total, while St. Truiden scored in each but one of its previous six outings on the road. Club Brugge is a firm favorite to win this clash, but I would go with the totals.
My Pick: Over 2.5 Goals at 1.45
Aarau vs. Grasshoppers
After the first two rounds of the Swiss Challenge League, Grasshoppers are topping the table with six points and a 3:1 goal difference. Aarau is right behind with four points and a 5:2 goal difference.
Since 2015, these two teams met each other only in friendly games, and all five tilts saw both teams scoring and three or more goals in the total. Also, 17 of their last 19 H2H matchups overall saw more than a couple of goals in the total.
Aarau scored in each but one of its last 18 outings at home, keeping the net intact six times in the process. Both Aarau and Grasshoppers should battle for promotion this season, so I expect to see some goals on both sides here. Betting on the totals is another option.
My Pick: Both Teams to Score YES at 1.55
Linkoping City vs. Rynninge
Although the odds are not tempting at all, the clash between Linkoping City and Rynninge should produce three or more goals. Rynninge has the worst defense in the Swedish Division 1 Norra, conceding 40 goals in 16 games while scoring 29 in a return.
On the other side, Linkoping City scored 34 goals, allowing 21 in a return, while they conceded in four straight outings at home. Also, four of Linkoping City and Rynninge’s last five games saw three or more goals in the total, while 25 of their 31 games overall went in the over this season.
When it comes to H2H meetings, five out of seven produced three or more goals including the previous three encounters.
My Pick: Over 2.5 Goals at 1.30
