Betting on the UEFA Europa League is always fun with plenty of games on the schedule. We’ll see 41 second legs of the second qualifying round this Thursday, so let’s take a closer look at our best Europa League bets.
Ludogorets vs. Valur
Ludogorets barely earned a 1-1 draw at Valur last week, scoring an equalizer in the dying moments of the second half. The Eagles blew plenty of scoring opportunities, while Valur took the lead with its first shot on goal in the 11th minute of the first half.
Valur finished the game with just three shots towards Ludogorets’ keeper, while the Eagles had 19. Ludogorets is a much better team than the Icelandic champs, so I expect the Eagles to easily win the second leg in the front of the home fans.
My Pick: Ludogorets AH -1.5 at 1.55
Viitorul Constanta vs. Gent
The first leg in Belgium was a firecracker, and Gent won it 6-3. After nine goals last week, I expect to see at least three on this one. The Romanian side needs a three-goal victory to qualify for the next round, so betting on the over seems like a logical choice.
Gent started its domestic championship with a 1-1 draw at Charleroi this past Saturday. On the other side, Viitorul defeated FC Hermannstadt 3-2 at home, recording its third straight victory in the Romanian Liga 1. Constanta’s last four home games and four of Gent’s previous six tilts on the road saw three or more goals in the total.
My Pick: Over 2.5 Goals at 1.50
Klaksvik vs. Luzern
Luzern barely defeated Klaksvik 1-0 in the first leg this past Thursday, scoring the winner in the stoppage time of the second half. The Luminaries had 28 shots towards Klaksvik’s goalie, allowing just three in a return. Also, Luzern kept the ball in possession for 63% of the time.
I expect to see more of the same in the second leg in the Faroe Islands. Luzern is simply a much better team than Klaksvik, so the hosts will need a miracle to pull off an upset. Also, Luzern kept its net intact in the first three games of the new season.
My Pick: Luzern to Win at 1.40
It’s always hard to find the right picks among all intriguing markets, and there are surely a few more games that deserve your attention. Utrecht will try to bounce back from a 1-1 draw at home with Zrinjski; Sturm Graz will try to overcome a 2-0 loss at Haugesund, while Jablonec will look for a victory following a 2-1 loss at Pyunik.
