Even 40 matches will be played in the UEFA Europa League Second Qualifying Round 1st Leg on Thursday, and in the following article, we will present you our selection of ten most exciting games of the day. This is only the first part of our list, so take a look at first five encounters.
The first game on our list is an intriguing clash between Haugesund and Sturm Graz. Even though the visitors are slight favorites here, they played only one competitive game so far in the new season. On the other hand, the Norwegian Eliteserien is in full swing, and just three teams scored more goals than Haugesund at the moment. Haugesund scored ten goals in the last two home matches including a 5-1 thrashing of Cliftonville in the previous round. I expect goals on both ends in this one, and that’s why I am backing BTTS at 1.80 (-125).
Brondby nearly suffered elimination in the first qualifying round despite a comfortable 4-1 victory in the opening leg over Inter Turku. The Finnish side secured a 2-0 win in the returning leg and fell short, and the Danes know they must score at least one goal here to have a chance to reach the next round. Lechia Gdansk allowed at least a goal in seven of their last eight home matches, and although Brondby’s away form is not particularly good (no wins in the previous five), I am backing the visitors to find the back of the net tonight. BTTS can be found at 1.85 (-118) odds.
Connahs made one of the biggest shocks in the first qualifying round as they eliminated Kilmarnock after a spirited performance in the second leg, but their European journey will likely end in this round. The Serbian cup winners Partizan are a far better side, and they shouldn’t have any problems to record a comfortable win in Wales against the semi-amateur opposition. The odds on Partizan’s win are low at 1.22 (-455), but I am pretty sure the visitors will get a convincing win. I am backing them to cover the +1.5 spread at 1.72 (-139).
Kairat Almaty are traveling to Israel to take on Hapoel Beer Sheva who had trouble to beat the Albanian Laci in the previous round, so the visitors certainly have an opportunity to advance. However, they need to score and considering they scored 14 goals in the last four matches; I am backing them to get at least one here. Now, I don’t think we will have a goal-glut in this encounter, but BTTS at 1.90 (-110) is a rather attractive offer to ignore, so feel free to use as your single bet.
Lokomotiv Plovdiv conceded in nine of their last ten home games while Trnava scored five in their previous two matches, so I don’t think the hosts will keep the clean sheet in this one. Trnava defeated Radnik Bijeljina on penalties in the last round, but they are not in a good away form at the moment. Still, it looks like the Bulgarians are struggling to keep their net intact lately, and that’s why I am going with both teams to score at excellent 2.10 (+110) odds.
