Algeria have been the most consistent side at this AFCON as they won the first four games without allowing a single goal while they had luck to beat Ivory Coast on penalties in the quarter-finals. On the other hand, Nigeria stepped up after a 2-0 defeat to Madagascar in the final group match and scored five goals in the two knockout clashes with Cameroon and South Africa.

Algeria Team News and Latest Form
Considerably tired after taking Ivory Coast all the way to penalties, Algeria (FIFA rank: #68) must now defeat another team ranked higher than themselves (the #45-ranked Nigeria) to make it to their first Africa Cup of Nations final since winning the competition in 1990, beating the Super Eagles for the title.
Algeria are one of only two teams in this AFCON yet to lose in regulation (W4, D1). All four 90-minute wins came without Algeria allowing a goal, with the Ivory Coast being the first to hurt their defense, tying the game following the hour mark in the previous match.
Algeria are the only remaining team that have not failed to score in 90 minutes in this AFCON. Algeria earned precisely two bookings in three of their previous four games.
Nigeria Team News and Latest Form
The Super Eagles, meanwhile, made it to at least the semis in 11 of their last 12 AFCON appearances, even though they ended up finishing third in four of the last six campaigns. Four of Nigeria’s previous five semi-final appearances saw them eliminated after allowing exactly one goal in regulation.
Nigeria’s coach, Gernot Rohr, won two of three duels with Algeria (W2, L1), with all games produced over 2.5 goals. Still, that is rather contradicted by the fact that each of the previous three H2H encounters in any AFCON finals have finished 1-0, although two of the victories have been Nigeria’s.
Nigeria are averaging 6.2 corners per game at this tournament, and they had either five or six in each of their last three matches.
Algeria vs Nigeria Head to Head
These rivals have faced 16 times since 1980, and Nigeria have an advantage in all-time H2H clashes with eight wins; the Algeria have five while three duels ended as draws. The Desert Warriors are without a win in H2H duels since 1990 and the Super Eagles won five of the last six encounters while the latest one finished 1-1 in November 2017. Two of the previous three AFCON H2H matches produced a 1-0 scoreline at halftime.
Algeria vs Nigeria Africa Cup of Nations 2019 Betting Tip
Three of the last four H2H meetings provided goals on both sides including the previous two, and although Algeria have the best defense at this AFCON, they are facing in-form Nigeria’s attack. The Super Eagles improved drastically in the last two matches, but their defense is still conceding goals, and that’s why my Algeria vs Nigeria Africa Cup of Nations 2019 betting tip is both teams to score at 2.20 (+120).
