Benin are one of the most pleasant surprises at AFCON this year as they beat Morocco to make it to the quarter-finals. On the other hand, Senegal, got a tight, 1-0 win against Uganda thanks Sadio Mane’s early goal. Following Egypt’s elimination, the Lions of Teranga are one of the biggest favorites to win the title here.

Senegal Team News and Latest Form
Senegal have a near-perfect record across their last ten games (W9, L1),a s their only defeat came to Algeria at this tournament. Eight of those victories were with a clean sheet, which illustrates how dominant the Lions of Teranga have been in that span. Still, they must work on their concentration in the second half as eight of the previous ten goals they allowed arrived in the second 45 minutes.
Key to their recent success has been Senegal’s ability to hit the net regularly. They failed to find the back of the net in only two of their last 16 international games, and have scored two or more goals in nine of those matches. However, just three of their previous ten fixtures have featured over 2.5 goals.
Liverpool forward Sadio Mané missed a couple of penalties so far but he still recorded three goals in his last two Senegal games. There have been three penalties awarded in Senegal’s last two matches. There’s been an average of 5.25 cards shown per game in each of Senegal’s previous four games.
Benin Team News and Latest Form
Draw specialists Benin can count themselves fairly lucky to get this far as they drew each of their last four matches (90 minutes). They scored the opening goal in seven of their last nine games – the other two ended as goalless stalemates. On the other hand, they have gone on to allow at least one goal in response in five of those games.
Benin conceded the injury-time penalty in a tilt with Morocco, but Hakim Ziyech failed to convert it, and despite Morocco’s better display in extra-time, the Squirrels defended exceptionally well and defeated the Atlas Lions on penalties.
Mickaël Poté scored two goals for Benin at this AFCON so far, even though both came in the same match. There have been two red cards shown across Benin’s previous four games.
Senegal vs Benin Head to Head
Senegal are unbeaten in the previous four H2H encounters with Benin (D1, L3). Three of those four duels produced over 1.5 goals. The Lions of Teranga recorded a 4-0 win in the most recent clash, scoring two goals in each half.
Senegal vs Benin Betting Tip
The Lions of Teranga have nine wins in the last ten games. They kept the clean sheet in eight of those nine victories, and even though Benin displayed an excellent fighting spirit against Morocco, my bet here is Senegal to win at 1.40 (-250). It is a good bet which you can use on a double or acca, but if you want bigger odds, check out the following bet. Sadio Mane scored two goals so far at AFCON, and despite missing two of three penalties he took, he is still the first choice to take it if Senegal are awarded a penalty in this one. Backing Mane to score anytime at 2.20 (+120) is my additional pick.
