Spain U21 Team News and Latest Form
Spain made it to their second consecutive U21 European Championship Final despite losing their first match of the tournament. La Furia Roja were trailing to France in the semi-finals but managed to respond with four goals and a comfortable win.
Marc Roca, Mikel Oyarzabal, Dani Olmo, and substitute Borja Mayoral scored for Spain and France couldn’t recover from a shock after getting to an early lead.
Head coach Luis de la Fuente now has a winning formula with Fabián Ruiz and Marc Roca in midfield, and Pablo Fornals, Dani Olmo, Dani Ceballos, and Mikel Oyarzabal in the attack. Júnior Firpo and Jesús Vallejo returned to the starting lineup, and even though Firpo conceded a penalty, he reacted with a great performance in the attack.
Germany U21 Team News and Latest Form
Germany ended the group phase at the top with seven points after defeating Denmark and Serbia. Head coach Stefan Kuntz opted for a couple of changes against Romania in the semis, replacing suspended Benjamin with Maximilian Mittelstädt while Nadiem Amiri started in Marco Richter’s place.
Amiri scored the opener against the the Romanians, but his team conceded the fourth penalty at this tournament, and a lack of concentration cost them two goals. Gian-Luca Waldschmidt tied the game from the penalty spot and then scored another in the 90th minute before Amiri set the final score, 4-2, from a free-kick.
Benjamin Henrichs could return to the starting eleven while Kuntz will likely continue with Amiri as a starter. Arne Maier could get an opportunity to start instead of Florian Neuhaus given Spain’s quality in midfield.
Spain U21 vs Germany U21 Head to Head
These teams have met on seven occasions before and the Spaniards are leading the all-time H2H encounters with four victories to two while one game was a draw. La Furia Roja were on a three-game unbeaten run against Germany, but the Germans were better in the previous duel in the final of the last European Under-21 Championship.
Spain U21 vs Germany U21 Betting Tip
The odds on Spain dropped from 2.37 (+137) to 1.95 (-105) after an impressive win over France in the semis. Germany managed to beat them two years ago in Poland where the Spaniards were also favorites, and that’s why I am not going to predict a winner here. I am going with goals, and considering that the odds on both teams to score are “only” 1.61 (-164), my bet is BTTS and Over 2.5 goals at 1.95 (-105). Germany conceded at least a goal in each of their last four matches while Spain kept the net intact only once, scoring nine goals in the last two.
