The quarterfinals of the 2019 Women’s World Cup are upon us, and the first game will see Norway versus England. This will be a rematch of the 2015 World Cup round of 16 clash when England ousted Norway 2-1.

England won all its four outings at the 2019 Women’s World Cup and is listed as a slight +110 (2.10) favorite to beat Norway. The Lionesses easily outlasted Cameroon 3-0 in the previous round, scoring a couple of goals in the first half. They recorded a clean sheet in three straight games, allowing just one goal in the first-round clash of the group stage against Scotland.
On the other side, Norway won two of its three contests in the group phase along with a 2-1 defeat to France. In the round of 16, the Grasshoppers eliminated Australia after a penalty shootout, while the game was ended in a 1-1 stalemate. Norway scored seven goals in its previous four showings, conceding four in return.
This will be the toughest challenge of the tournament for the Lionesses who had just one tricky game against Japan in the group stage, while the Grasshoppers played a couple of difficult rivals in France and Australia.
Still, England is a fave to reach the semis whereas the Lionesses possess more firepower than the Grasshoppers. On the other hand, Norway is a physically strong team who can cope with England, so I wouldn’t take the side bet here.
With so much at stake, I think we will see a tight game with no more than a couple of goals in the total. England relies on a sturdy defense, while both teams should be patient, especially in the first 45 minutes.
The Pick: Under 2.5 Goals at -134 (1.75)
