Both Germany and Romania ended the group stage in the first place of their respective groups with seven points, and even though such record was expected from the Germans, the Romanians surprised after finishing ahead France, England, and Croatia. Germany are strong favorites to make it to the final, but they mustn’t underestimate the Little Tricolours who already upset the odds at the European Under-21 Championship.

Germany U21 Team News and Latest Form
Germany topped Group B with seven points and tournament-high ten goals. After a couple of wins against Denmark and Serbia, head coach Stefan Kuntz kept the same starting XI against Austria in a tilt that ended 1-1. Gian-Luca Waldschmidt scored a screamer, but a controversial penalty decision allowed Austria to equalize. It was the third penalty Germany had conceded in the tournament, and they allowed three goals overall.
With a day more to prepare for this game than the Romanians, there is little probability that Kuntz will make plenty of changes in this one. Maximilian Mittelstädt is probable to start at left-back with Benjamin Henrichs suspended while the rest of starting lineup should remain the same.
Germany are unbeaten in the last 15 games and the last time they suffered a loss was in October 2017 when Norway defeated them, 3-1. The Germans failed to hit the net just once in the previous 21 matches, and although Romania kept their net intact against France, it is hard to expect them to do it today.
Romania U21 Team News and Latest Form
Romania opened the European Under-21 Championship with a surprisingly big 4-1 win over Croatia, and they even beat England 4-2 in the following game. A 0-0 stalemate with France was exactly what they needed to book their place in the semi-finals and at the upcoming Olympics.
Expect to see defenders Alex Pascanu and Florin Bogdan Stefan back in the starting eleven in the tie with Germany with midfielders Dennis Man, Tudor Baluta, and Andrei Ivan also set to get a starting nod. Romania plays a high energy and attractive style of football while they also have enormous support from the stands. With one day less to prepare than the Germans, there is a probability they’ll have some tired legs in the second half.
The Little Tricolours lost only once in the previous ten games, and they kept their net intact in five of them, but it’s not going to be easy to keep Germany away from scoring, especially with Waldschmidt in a top form.
