Both Senegal and Algeria secured identical 2-0 victories in the first round of the Africa Cup of Nations, and this tilt will likely decide who will end in the first place of Group C. It’s going to be an exciting clash when we take quality players on each side into consideration.

Senegal Team News and Latest Form
The highest-ranked African team, Senegal (FIFA rank: #22) comfortably defeated Tanzania 2-0, wining both halves in the process. A 2-0 victory is one that Senegal have become accustomed to in this competition, with each of their previous three group stage wins coming 2-0.
Even though head coach Allou Cissé is without a win in two previous encounters with Algeria (D1, L1), Senegal are unbeaten in eight games in all competitions (W7, D1) with six of those seven victories were with a clean sheet.
Idrissa Gueye recorded a goal and an assist in his last two starts for Senegal despite not scoring once for Everton in the 2018/19 Premier League campaign. Five of Senegal’s previous six games produced under 2.5 total goals.
Algeria Team News and Latest Form
On the other hand, Algeria (#68) also won 2-0 in their first game of the Africa Cup of Nations. They are now unbeaten in their previous seven matches (W5, D2), although three of their last five games saw both teams score.
Algeria have been drawn in the same group as Senegal in each of the last two editions of the AFCON. They avoided a loss in both matches, with Algeria inflicting Senegal’s recent group stage defeat in this tournament.
Manchester City star Riyad Mahrez scored three goals in his previous four AFCON group stage caps for Algeria, with two coming in the opening 45 minutes. Algeria allowed an equalizer on two of the last five occasions they have taken the lead. Each of Algeria’s last two matches produced over 1.5 goals in the first half. Six of Algeria’s previous eight AFCON group games produced goals on both sides.
Senegal vs Algeria Head to Head
Senegal and Algeria faced nine times thus far, and Algeria leads in all-time H2H encounters with four wins while Senegal have three. The latest H2H duel in 2017 finished 2-2; Islam Slimani had a brace while Pape Diop and Moussa Sow scored for the Lions of Teranga. Senegal are without a win in each of the previous four H2H clashes in all competitions (D1, L3).
Senegal vs Algeria Betting Tip
Algeria failed to hit the net in only two of the last nine H2H meetings, and it’s the same case with the Senegalese. Both nations scored in five of those nine duels including two of three at the Africa Cup of Nations. Given the attacking stars on each side, I am backing both teams to score here at excellent 2.20 odds (+120).
