Following a tight opening victory over Zimbabwe, Egypt now need only a point to book their place in the 1/8 finals, but they will surely go for a win in front of their fans. On the other hand, D.R. Congo disappointed in their first games as they suffered a 2-0 defeat to Uganda, and they are desperate to bounce back against the Egyptians.

Egypt Team News and Latest Form
Egypt, the most successful team in AFCON history with seven titles, opened their campaign with a 1-0 win over Zimbabwe. The Pharaohs are being involved in low-scoring affairs recently, with four of their five matches played in 2019 producing under 2.5 goals.
Additionally, three of Egypt’s previous four games have ended 1-0 either way. Yet, with Egypt opening the scoring in four of their last five matches, and seeing three of their previous four wins yield a single-goal difference, they will likely continue with their usual approach.
Midfielder Trezeguet opened the scoring for his nation in each of their last three AFCON games, including qualifying phase. The half-time scoreline has been 1-0 for Egypt in each of their last two matches.
D.R. Congo Team News and Latest Form
The two-time winners D.R. Congo lost 2-0 to Uganda in their first match at the tournament and the Leopards have now won only once since the start of 2018 (W1, D6, L3). Five of the six draws in that period finished 1-1, though they fought back after allowing the first goal in four of those draws.
Just like Egypt’s D.R. Congo’s games are typically low-scoring. Only one of their ten matches since the start of 2018 produced over 2.5 total goals, and slightly over half of the overall goals scored across this period came in the second 45 minutes (55.55%).
Cedric Bakambu is the only player to score a winner for the Leopards since Neeskens Kebano in November 2017. D.R. Congo drew seven of their previous nine AFCON tournament group matches(W2, D7). Five of their last seven AFCON tournament draws produced under 2.5 goals.
Egypt vs D.R. Congo Head to Head
Egypt and D.R. Congo have faced seven times before, and the current H2H record is completely on the Pharaohs’ favor (W5, D1, L1), and that only defeat came in 1974. The latest clash between these sides (March 2012) finished 0-0 without goals, but that shouldn’t be the case here as Egypt scored in each of their previous six home games.
Egypt vs D.R. Congo Betting Tip
Egypt are strong favorites at 1.5 (-200) odds, and D.R. Congo have only one away win in their previous ten games, and after a disappointing performance against Uganda, I am backing the hosts to get three points in this one. Mohamed Salah played 120 minutes for Egypt in the last two games and failed to hit the net, and we’re backing the Egyptian King to score here at 1.80 (-125).
