England U21 Team News and Latest Form
England perhaps deserved to lose to France but they didn’t deserve to lose in such an unlucky fashion. The Young Lions missed a couple of promising chances early on while Dean Henderson saved Moussa Dembele’s penalty in the first half. Phil Foden’s great individual skills gave England a 1-0 lead early in the second half but Hamza Choudhury’s straight red card killed the game for the Englishmen.
Even though Houssem Aouar also failed to convert a penalty, France scored two late goals and deservedly snatched a narrow victory. Aidy Boothroyd could make some changes today with Tammy Abraham replacing Dominic Solanke in teh attack is a possibility. Morgan Gibbs-White could return to the starting eleven while Choudhury serves his suspension.
England hit the net in each of their previous eight games but managed to keep the clean sheet in just two of those and Romania will definitely receive a few opportunities to punish Boothroyd’s leaky defence.
Romania U21 Team News and Latest Form
George Puscas and Ianis Hagi scored early goals against Croatia and even though Nikola Vlasic managed to cut Romania’s lead to one, it was all we saw from the Croatians. The Little Tricolours got to a 3-1 lead thanks to Tudor Baluta’s goal in the 66th minute while substitute Adrian Petre set the final score, 4-1, in added time.
Mirel Radoi’s side must not be underestimated here as striker Puscas is playing very well right now and he even scored a brace for the Romania senior team. Playmaker Ianis Hagi and goalkeeper Andrei Radu are also important members of this team.
Romania lost just once in the previous eight games and scored at least a goal in eight of the last nine. Given England’s leaky defence, the Little Tricolours have a solid chance to score in this one as well. On the other hand, their defence is slightly better than England’s as they kept their net intact in four of their previous seven matches.
England U21 vs. Romania U21 Head to Head
The rivals have met four times in this decade and England haven’t lost to Romania yet, recording three wins in the span. They met a few months ago in a friendly tilt and England got a 2-1 victory thanks to goals from Demarai Gray and Jake Clarke-Salter while Ionut Costache softened the loss for Romania.
England U21 vs. Romania U21 Betting Tip
England will need to attack in this clash and try to get three points which will leave plenty of space for the Romanians to punish them on a break. It’s crucial for the Young Lions to open the scoring if they don’t want to experience the same fate as Croatia. Betting on England to win at 1.61 (-163) is not a bad option if you are adding it on your acca, but we suggest you go with England to win and BTTS at 2.87 (+187).
