The Round of 16 in Halle and at the Queen’s Club goes on Thursday, June 20, 2019, while we’ll also see a few first-round matches in London that are rescheduled due to rain. A couple of contests attracted our attention, so we’re taking a two-match parlay with the odds at +253 (3.53) odds.
In Halle, the German top-ranked player and the second seed Alexander Zverev meets Steve Johnson. Zverev defeated Robin Haase 6-4 7-5 in the opening round, while Johnson surprisingly had an easy job against Philipp Kohlschreiber 6-3 6-3.
Zverev is pretty inconsistent this season, recording 24 wins and 12 losses, and he dropped at least a set in seven of his last ten victories. On the other side, Johnson has a 7-13 record in 2019, and the World No. 76 is just 4-24 against the top 10 players in his career.
Zverev lost his only meeting with Johnson back in 2016, so this is a nice chance for a payback. He’s playing in front of the home audience, and I’m backing him to win in straight sets at +125 (2.25) odds.
At the Queen’s Club, tennis bad boy Nick Kyrgios plays his first-round match against Roberto Carballes Baena. Betting on Kyrgios is always a tricky job, but Nick should get the job done against the World No. 72 Carballes Baena.
The Spaniard is a typical baseliner who loves to play on clay, and he’s 1-5 on grass including qualifying rounds. On the other side, Kyrgios has a 20-12 record on grass in his career, and the Australian possesses rocket serve and strong forehand which should be too much for Carballes Baena. Hereof, I’m backing Kyrgios to win in straight sets at -175 (1.57) odds.
